Pickleball Court Dimensions: A Comprehensive Guide to Court Size and Measurements

If you are eager to play pickleball, start a pickleball game in your neighborhood, school, city, etc, and looking for a space to play then bear in mind the Pickleball court dimensions. A pickleball court is a rectangular space with different lines and zone and a net in the middle that separates the two teams i.e., the serving team, and the receiving team.

If you are wondering how big is a pickleball court, then a simple answer is not as big as a tennis court! But there are specific rules that must be followed when creating a space for a pickleball game.   • Non-Volley Zone or Kitchen: the seven feet space on either side of the net is called a Non-Volley Zone or Kitchen in slang pickleball lingo. Players should not be in this zone while volleying the ball.
  • Baseline: The baseline represents the back of the court and is located 22 feet from the net.
  • Centreline: The area where the team play is called the service area and this area is divided on either side by the Centerline that goes from NVZ and baseline. 
  • Midcourt: the space between the Baseline and NVZ is Midcourt where players play the pickleball game.
  • Sideline: It is the area surrounding the playing area and goes around the court. The pickleball dimensions are demarcated by these sidelines.

This is the basic layout that falls within the pickleball court. All these zones, lines, and spaces are predetermined and the court must be as per the pickleball dimensions and size mentioned in the official rules.

As per the governing bodies of pickleball, pickleball games must be played in a court that follows the official pickleball court measurements.  So, what are the dimensions of a pickleball court? Pickleball court dimensions for both singles and doubles matches must be a rectangle with 20 feet (6.10 m) wide and 44 feet (13.41 m) long. the playing field should at least be 30 feet (9.14 m) wide and 60 feet long surrounded by the court lines that must be 2 inches wide and in a contrasting color of the court and placed outside of the perimeter and non-volley zone lines.

For those playing in a wheelchair, the dimensions of the pickleball court are different. As per the official rules, pickleball in a wheelchair is played on a court that is 44 feet (13.41 m) wide and 74 feet (22.55 m) long.
